Well, not exactly. This may look like a trash truck but its actually a custom built all-terrain camper. The idea is that people who travel around the world will have something nicer than a camper that can also go further than a camper. For more pictures and a link to the manufacturer, check it out on snopes.
While browsing around for some other space-related photos, I came across this very nice shot of the ISS and Venus sailing across the sky in apparent close proximity to each other.
When looking at the photo, keep this in mind (from the photographers caption) ” the station was a few hundred miles from the photographer, but Venus was about 90 million miles away.”
Old news, but I just heard/saw about it…perhaps some of you missed it too. Apparently, USPS launched a campaign for Star Wars Stamps, and in celebration, stuck a few hundred R2D2 mailboxes around the nation. And one person decided to be, how do we put it…”cheeky” and dressed up as Leia. Thus…this flickr picture was produced.
Now, I must give Teal and Erin a bow for 1) finding an R2D2 mailbox, dressing up as Leia and actually posting a picture of it. Thanks! and give a visit to Lylium.org, Erin’s blog. And also, check out the “Damsel in Distress” aka Princess Leia to Cambridge University page on the blog
“Photos sent to me by my friend Danny with this caption:
My wife’s uncle works in a military hospital and told me about this. Its pretty amazing. Kevin Garrad (3rd Infantry Division) was on a street patrol in Iraq (Tikrit I believe) and as he rounded the corner of a building an armed (AK-47) insurgent came from the other side.
The two of them were within just a few feet of each other when they opened fire. The insurgent was killed and Kevin was hit in the left chest where his IPod was in his jacket pocket. It slowed the bullet down enough that it did not completely penetrate his body armor. Fortunately, Kevin suffered no wound.”
“”The Stockholm Tunnelbana has three lines encompassing 110km of track and
100 stations of which 64km and 55 stations are underground. Several of
the deep underground stations are cut into solid rock which were left
with cave-like ceilings. The builders carved fascinating artistic
objects out of the rock…”"
Just take a look. I think its an interesting design, and in any case, it’s a welcomed change from concrete, tile, or fake ceiling material. You’re in a cave. Let it look like one.
Technically, because the earlier posts are towards the bottom of the page, the one below this came first. Odd coincidence? Possibly. I had NO IDEA Brian was looking at that…
Don’t try and beat the train, and don’t stop on the tracks.
