Aim 6.8 Beta

Now…in line with the previous post about im histories…this…now this…is a truly disturbing thing.
Of course, I can see myself having fun with this plugin, but it could *seriously* pose some problems.
What Aim 6.8 beta includes is support for real-time IM. Its incompatible with other clients, but hey..if enough people decide its worth the risk, it could catch on.
To use this function, one user has to activate a direct connection, then it asks for the other person to accept so it isnt out of the blue and unexpected
Now…i’m sure you can see the fun aspects of this…and the problems. the oh so big problems. A hint for those of us who havent picked up. Freudian slips? awkward situations?
But…it could be fun to try out haha. Check it out: AIM 6.8

Uhhhhh. . .
I gotta say,
well,
this is. . . .
totally pointless.
Actually, I take that back. For 90% of my friends, its totally pointless.
For a lot of the people I talk to, I can type slower then I think. (I hope thats the case for most ppl out there. . .) Regardless, it would be really annoying if its suddenly possible for people to actually see what i’m typing, word-for-word. Then people could
[UserX] “no they won’t cut in to the middle of a sentence.”
So, um, as I was saying, this might actually do us all dis-service, making coherent conversations even harder. Besides, If I want to chat directly, I’ll get Skype, or just use voice or vid chat on iChat.
Um. . . . .technically, it should include live EDITING too.
That’s where you could really get yourself in trouble. It’s easy enough to say that you mis-typed while trying to cover for saying something embarasing/stupid/insulting. It’s worse when the other person you’re chatting with can see the message sitting there in the first form you type it in, then watch you change it to be “polite” to make em’ happy before you hit send.
I.E., you could see
“Man, that’s really stupid” sitting there for a few seconds before I erase it and type “I think that idea has room for improvement”
