Xearth for Windows!
Changes your computer desktop to a rotating 3d map of the earth. Highly configurable, includes the option of showing earthquake data, the sun rises, and others!

[...] (Some long-time readers might remember an application that did something similar to this one, that we blogged about, Xearth, that depicted the Earth from some point in space, as a globe, turning on the desktop, like you were really out in space, instead of this one, which shows the earth kinda flattened into a rectangular plane. That one, although it was a different perspective, offered only a blue and green view, an animation, opposed to the real photography used here.
